If you’ve just finished setting up your account, here’s the fastest way to send your first invoice.
Before you begin
Make sure you’ve added at least one client — you can do this during onboarding, or from Clients at any time.
Steps
- From your dashboard, select New Invoice.
- Choose your client, then add what you’re billing for and the amount.
- Choose how you want to get paid: Stripe card payment (if connected), bank transfer, cash, or check.
- Select Send.
What happens next
Your client receives an email with a link to view and pay the invoice. You’ll see its status change on your dashboard as they open and pay it. See Invoices for the full list of statuses and what each one means.
Important behavior and limitations
- You don’t need Stripe connected to send your first invoice — manual payment methods work on their own.
- The Free plan allows up to 5 invoices a month; Solo and Team are unlimited.
- This covers the fastest path to your first invoice; for the full set of invoice fields — tax lines, multi-currency, expiration dates — see Creating and sending an invoice.
