There are three separate things that can cost money around a SimplePayment invoice — it’s worth keeping them apart.
The SimplePayment subscription fee
This is what you pay SimplePayment for the software itself: Free, Solo, or Team. It’s a flat subscription price, billed monthly or annually — see Plans & Billing. It has nothing to do with how much you invoice or how many payments you collect.
Third-party processing and bank fees
When a client pays by card through Stripe, Stripe charges its own processing fee on that transaction — set by Stripe, not by SimplePayment. If a client pays by international bank transfer, their bank or an intermediary bank may charge a transfer or currency-conversion fee. These fees go to Stripe or the bank, not to SimplePayment, and SimplePayment doesn’t control, discount, or add to them.
SimplePayment doesn’t take a percentage
SimplePayment doesn’t add its own percentage, commission, or markup on top of any payment you collect — whether it’s paid by card, bank transfer, cash, or check. What you charge your client is what you’re owed; the only thing SimplePayment charges you for is your subscription plan.
Important behavior and limitations
- SimplePayment doesn’t process bank transfer, cash, or check payments itself — those are recorded by you once you’ve received them, not verified or moved by SimplePayment.
- SimplePayment doesn’t connect directly to your bank account and has no automatic bank-feed reconciliation.
- Stripe’s exact processing rates aren’t set or published by SimplePayment — check your Stripe account or Stripe’s own pricing for current rates.
