Once Stripe is connected to your account, you can offer card payment as an option on any invoice.
Before you begin
Stripe needs to be connected first — see Connecting Stripe to accept card payments.
Steps
- When creating or editing an invoice, include Stripe card payment among the payment options you offer.
- Send the invoice.
- Your client selects Pay by card on the invoice page and enters their card details on Stripe’s own secure checkout.
What happens next
Once the payment completes, the invoice’s status changes to Paid automatically, and you’re notified.
Important behavior and limitations
- Card payments run entirely on Stripe’s infrastructure — SimplePayment never sees or stores full card numbers.
- SimplePayment doesn’t add its own fee or markup on card payments — see Understanding payment fees.
- Card payment isn’t available as an option on an invoice until Stripe is connected.
